You may have to edit the same sentences 100 times, (Hence the receding hairline.) You may find that "He ejaculated" isn't the best dialogue tag after all, and you may forget that you've left your children out in the yard while you're banging out a few more words, but one of the greatest battles you will fight will take place in your mind. This is the battle to stay motivated when you are staring at twenty unfinished chapters, with only two or three behind you. It's the battle to believe in your work when you read that first draft and hate every word of it, and it's the battle to believe in your vision when no one else does. As a writer, just starting out, you will have to believe in yourself, and be your greatest cheerleader, because few others will.
You cannot control whether your book will be accepted by a publisher, and you cannot control whether the market will love it or not. What you can control is how hard you will work at it, and how far you are willing to go to reach your goals.
